Dr. Saqib Usmani, General Dentist

Dr. Usmani completed his undergraduate coursework at Temple University in Philadelphia earning a Degree in Biology.  Following in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Usmani decided to pursue a career in dentistry.  After being accepted into Temple’s School of Dentistry, he chose to enroll in their prestigious DMD/MBA Dual Degree Program. An exceptional student, Dr. Usmani managed to graduate at the top of his class, while at the same time earning a Masters in Business Administration in just four years.  But his training didn’t end there.  After graduating from dental school, Dr. Usmani elected to further his education by accepting a position at Christiana Care’s General Practice Residency in Wilmington, Delaware. Dr. Usmani is an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Osseointegration.  Currently he is on staff at Christiana Hospital serving as attending faculty for the General Practice Residency Program.  Dr. Usmani lives in Bear with his wife Anila and their two sons Zan and Adam.

The decision to pursue dentistry was an easy one for Dr. Usmani, especially since dentistry runs in the family! Dr. Usmani was accepted into the esteemed University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.  While in school, Dr. Usmani’s superior clinical skills quickly drew the attention of his faculty and it wasn’t long before he was tutoring his fellow students.  Just like his older brother, Dr. Usmani extended his professional training after receiving his Doctorate of Dental Medicine and enrolled in Christiana Care’s General Practice Residency.  His passion for teaching has stayed with him and he continues to teach once a week at Wilmington Hospital’s Dental Clinic, specializing in Implant Dentistry. Dr. Usmani is a member of several educational organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Delaware State Dental Society and the Delaware Valley Academy of Osseointegration.  Dr. Usmani also lives in Bear with his wife Sophia.

Dr. Sophia Usmani, Orthodontist

Dr. Sophia Usmani was the first in her family to venture into the dental field. Since making the decision to pursue dentistry she has never looked back!  A native of Toronto, Canada, Dr. Usmani moved to Houston, Texas and received her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas in Austin.  After graduating with honors, Dr. Usmani enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine and was awarded the coveted Dean’s Scholarship in recognition of her academic achievement. It was during her time in dental school that Dr. Usmani developed a strong interest in dentofacial orthopedics.  Inspired by the ability to help influence a child’s growth potential, Dr. Usmani began to consider the option of specialization after dental school.  It was also during her time at Penn that she met and married her husband, Dr. Sohaib Usmani. After finishing her dental school training, Dr. Usmani enrolled in Christiana Care’s General Practice Residency.  The following year, she was given the opportunity to work with one of the most prominent figures in orthodontics today, Dr. Robert Vanarsdall.  Under his tutelage, she gained a profound knowledge of orthodontics and was accepted into Penn’s prestigious Orthodontic Residency Program.  Dr. Usmani joined the Delaware Smile Center team in July 2011 and since then has been an asset for treating complex orthodontic cases.
