Wake Up to a New Smile...
Oral/IV conscious sedation utilizes oral sedative medications to reduce any anxieties you may have prior to receiving dental work. Unlike general anesthesia, oral conscious sedation will leave you able to speak and breathe on your own. Although you are not “sleeping” throughout the dental procedure, you are in a heightened state of relaxation so that any discomfort is minimized, and in most cases, eliminated completely.
How does oral conscious sedation work?
After thoroughly reviewing your medical history with you, your dentist will prescribe you medicine to take the night before your dental appointment. You will be given additional medication the day of your appointment to ensure you are in a state of complete relaxation and comfort. You will be required to bring a companion to escort you to and from the dental office.
